Intermittent fasting
Intermittent fasting is a hot topic
for research nowadays. Although new diet plans for fitness and health are
also constantly being introduced by researchers like the Dash diet intermittent
fasting works differently and effectively.
Intermittent fasting refers to
eating plans that alternate between fasting and eating periods. It’s the most
effective practical way to reduce weight if done correctly and persistently.
Purpose and benefits of fasting
Fasting actually benefits the body in many different ways. It can help lose weight, control blood pressure and cholesterol, improve brain health, and even can prevent diabetes. you have to starve yourself for long enough that the body after consuming all stored sugar switch on to fat-burning to fulfill its energy needs.
How does fasting work:
Our primary energy source is carbohydrates, including starch and sugars. when we digest food, our digestive system breaks down food into smaller glucose molecules to let them absorb into the bloodstream, which results in an instant rise in blood sugar levels. resulting in the storage of excess sugar in form of glycogen in the liver.
When the body's blood sugar level goes back to normal insulin release is stopped and when it even goes down the glucagon is released helping the glycogen convert back to glucose again and fulfill the body's energy needs.
How fasting works differently than other diet plans
This stage where you start losing
the fat comes after generally 12 hrs. This is the purpose we try to achieve in
other diet plans too that generally takes a month to trigger ketosis. But fasting
can do it in a day.
