High protein diet:
We have heard that
high-protein diets can help us lose weight or build muscle. But how?
We’ve discussed how the genic
diet works and why it is effective for fast weight loss. For ketogenic diet,
one of the main macros is fat but today we will talk about another
macronutrient that also plays a big role in our health.
Protein is a
macronutrient that is responsible for lots of functions in the body including
repairing muscles and tissues which means every time you damage the tissue,
protein is responsible for fixing it. Approximately 15% of our body weight
is made of protein including muscles, cartilage, ligament, tendons, hormones, hair
and nail etc.
THE NEED FOR PROTEIN
Although a slightly
higher protein consumption can be advantageous when attempting to reduce weight
or build muscle, the standard recommended amount for protein intake is 10 to 20
percent of total energy intake.
However, why should we eat more protein if our
objective is to lose weight?
A high-protein diet can
also help you maintain or add muscle mass. After eating a protein-rich meal,
you will feel more satisfied than after eating a meal that is low in protein or
contains the same number of calories.
SOURCES
We can find protein in
almost all foods animal products such as eggs and dairy, meat, fish and poultry
are very rich in protein but also plant-based foods such as nuts seeds and
vegetables. One gram of protein contains four calories just so you understand
100 grams of eggs steak almonds and edamame beans contains different amounts of
protein but they're all good sources.
How does it work?
Muscles consume the extra energy from carbs while repairing themselves so a protein diet along with weight lifting can work miracles for weight loss.
The
body repairs itself best while sleeping so, the protein diet that definitely
includes some carb intake as well, keeps on using stored carbs and finally fat
for repair and maintenance of muscles when carbs are no more
available. So following this technique you are actually burning fat while
sleeping as well.
Your pre and
post-workout meals include protein but also carbs to supply energy for your
game. So this protein meal plan focus on high protein its called protein weight
loss. Try it out if you want to lose weight without feeling hungry. But again
when you cut down on your calories, the body slows down its metabolic rate to
adjust accordingly and does not burn much fat if you don’t combine a protein
diet with bodybuilding. This keeps your metabolic rate higher allowing fat to
burn.
Make sure you
locate healthy and diverse protein sources so that you may have a pleasant and
nutritious high-protein diet. For a balanced and healthy dinner, never forget
to incorporate unsaturated fat and high-quality carbs.
The potential budget
addition may be the sole disadvantage for some. Meat, eggs, cheese, and dairy
products are included in pricey food items in almost every country in the
world.
