Why do we need salt?
Major six health
benefits of salt are listed below.
Salt is required by the
body to perform, many vital functions.
1. The actual ingredient
of salt is sodium chloride. Sodium is needed for nerve impulse transmission. So
the whole body communication and coordination through brain requires
salt.
2. It has a role in our
immune system
3. The adrenal glands
require salt to produce hormones.
4. It is required to
make HCl (hydrochloric acid) in our stomach which helps in protein digestion.
5. With a deficiency of
salt, insulin resistance may go high.
6. The body retains
water in it because of salt. If there is a deficiency of salt in conditions
like diarrhea the water will just eliminate from the body and cause
dehydration.
The most commonly
available salt is sea salt. While Himalayan salt is found in Pakistan, A South
Asian country, and is gaining its popularity because of its health
benefits.
Pink Himalayan vs white
rock salt:
A white salt is a form of salt that mainly contains sodium chloride. Sometimes iodine is added to cope with the deficiency of iodine in our daily diet. It is commonly obtained by drying out sea water so is called sea salt.
Why white salt seems more refined and purer
White salt goes through
processing. To give it this beautiful color it has to be bleached.
Aluminum silicate, potassium iodate, and some other additives are added to
prevent them from clumping and staying as fine granules.
The pink salt and Sea
salt
1. The normal sea salt
contains microplastics in it while the pink Himalayan salt is completely free
of these microplastics. These plastics are really bad for health and do not
degenerate so easily, they may take more time than a human's life span to
deteriorate.
2. Himalayan salt
contains a variety of trace minerals including magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc,
etc. some researches show that Himalayan salt may contain up to 84
different minerals required by our body to function properly.
3. Himalayan salt helps
regulate blood pressure as it has a direct effect on hydration and amounts of
fluid in the body.
Pink salt is the salt
taken out from Himalayan rocks and goes through very less processing so it
contains many different traces of minerals in it, most claim to have 84 trace
minerals present in it. Although in minute amounts, nature‘s best
combination of minerals makes all of them absorb well into your body.
Sea salt is obtained by
natural evaporation of saltwater leaving behind salt mixed with many other
trace minerals. Many generally recommend
choosing any salt according to your taste, as Sodium intake is almost the in
same amount in all types.
But most experts now
recommend avoiding processed food including refined salt.
