Walking better than exercise
Hippocrates said that the walk is the best medicine. Well, nowadays research is proving it. The walk is not generally recommended for weight loss but it helps maintain metabolic rate and body weight. Everyone irrespective of gender, age, or fitness is recommended to walk as it only helps the body get better and stay healthier for longer.
Comparison of the walk and heavy workout at the gym.
1. Regulating cortisol levels
The First benefit is the regulation of cortisol hormones that are released by the body to cope with situations of stress. The long-term release of these hormones has a long-lasting negative impact on physical and mental health. The levels f cortisol are greatly affected by aerobic exercises like walking. But if the person gets too much tired and has not developed enough stamina to walk but do more, may get an increase in cortisol levels, causing stress. ,
2. Treating arthritis.
It helps increase synovial fluid between the joints, many people who suffer from arthritis must walk to help the body make more fluid. People generally think that if they have arthritis, they cannot walk but this is the natural remedy unless it gets worse by not walking at all, it is my personal experience of knee joint pain. If I keep walking throughout the day, the pain naturally goes away and now I understand why. As the body demands, it produces more synovial fluid and helps smoothen joint movement.
3. Dementia and Alzheimer's disease
A study at the
University of Kansan has revealed that low-impact aerobic exercise like walking
reduces the risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Being active
throughout the day is much more effective to reduce the risk of this disease
rather than spending the whole day in a chair and then going for a heavy
workout. More mental work with less physical activity leads to this neural
disorder which is effectively treated with an exercise like walking that
reduces stress.
4. The health of the heart circulatory and respiratory
system:
Exercise can improve blood circulation throughout the body. Exercise is good for the fitness of blood vessels, and muscles, reducing the risk of getting high blood pressure.
5. Reduced risk of Diabetes:
Research at Duke University shows that people engaged in walking exercises exhibit better glucose tolerance than in running exercises. Controlling diabetes is also possible with walk as a diabetic patient may not be able to go to the gym and do heavy workouts, but can choose to walk to burn a lot of calories. The total calories burned in the case of a cardio-like walk is more in a given time than the heavy workout at the gym.
6. Mobilize the lymphatic system.
Half an hour walk on
daily basis help mobilize the lymphatic system that will have an impact on your skin
tone and enhance the performance of the immune system.
7. Weight maintenance :
Walking helps burn more calories than a heavy workout at the gym, a 30 minutes walk can help burn up to 200 calories or more. So it is an excellent way to maintain a healthy body mass. after all before the introduction of new diet plans or the research on heavy weight lifting exercises, it was the walk, people used to depend on walking for fitness.
